Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how CAD Variables, LLC, doing business as "CAD Variables" ("CAD Variables," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, and shares information when you use cadvariables.com and our drawing-generation service (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to this Policy. It should be read together with our Terms & Conditions.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide. - Account information — your name, company name, company address, and email address when you register. - Authentication — your password, which we store only in a securely hashed form (we never store it in plain text). - Project content — the specifications, dimensions, materials, title-block details, and any PDF files you enter or upload to generate or review drawings. - Support communications — the contents of messages, and any attachments, you send us through the contact form or by email.
1.2 Payment information. When you make a purchase or save a card, payment is handled by our third-party payment processor (Stripe). We do not receive or store your full card number. We receive limited billing details such as the card brand, last four digits, expiration, and transaction status.
1.3 Information collected automatically. When you use the Service, we and our providers may collect technical and usage data such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and timestamps, through server logs and similar technologies, to operate and secure the Service.
1.4 Cookies. We use a strictly necessary, first-party cookie to keep you signed in (session authentication). We do not use the Service to serve third-party advertising or cross-site ad tracking. If we add optional analytics in the future, we will update this Policy.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: - create and manage your Account and authenticate you; - generate, store, and deliver your drawings, and (for Premium) maintain your drawing history and revisions; - process payments, subscriptions, refunds, and receipts; - send transactional messages such as email verification, password resets, receipts, and subscription notices; - respond to your support requests, including reviewing drawings you report as containing a discrepancy; - operate, maintain, secure, debug, and improve the Service and prevent fraud or abuse; and - comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:
- Service providers who process data on our behalf to run the Service, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations, including:
- Stripe — payment processing and stored payment methods;
- cloud hosting and deployment providers (for example, our application host and database provider) — running the Service and storing your Account and drawing data;
- cloud storage — storing generated drawing files;
- drawing-generation infrastructure (Autodesk Platform Services) — producing drawings from your inputs;
- email delivery (for example, Resend) — sending transactional email.
- Legal and safety — when we believe disclosure is required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of CAD Variables, our users, or others.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.
4. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your Account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your Account, we permanently delete your Account data and saved drawings; this cannot be undone. We may retain limited records where required for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes, and our payment processor retains transaction records under its own policies.
5. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, session cookies marked HTTP-only and Secure, and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential.
6. Your Choices and Rights
- Access and update — you can view and update your Account information (name, company details, email) from your Account settings.
- Delete — you can delete your Account at any time from settings, which removes your Account data and saved drawings.
- Email — transactional emails are part of the Service; where we send any non-essential email, you can opt out using the unsubscribe link.
- Payment methods — you can view, replace, or remove a saved card from your Account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information — such as the rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing, and to object or withdraw consent (for example under the GDPR or UK GDPR), or the rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (for example under the CCPA/CPRA). We do not sell or share personal information as those laws define those terms. To exercise any right, contact us at support@cadvariables.com; we will respond as required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a right.
7. International Users
We operate the Service from the United States, and your information may be processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for businesses and users who are at least 18 years old. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may link to or rely on third-party websites and services (such as our payment processor). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for them. We encourage you to review those policies.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
